Tyne Sound News is a registered charity, part of the Talking Newspaper Federation, providing an audio recording service for the visually impaired. It has been established for over thirty years. Teams of unpaid volunteers produce the recordings. We post about 35,000 recordings each year.

The recordings are totally free of charge. Donations from listeners and members of the public ensure the continued survival of the service.

Four regular productions provide local news, views, entertainment and information. Each recording is between eighty and ninety minutes in length.

To listen to the recordings online you must register first.
